Racing suits entered the D Lewis range in 1926, and one of the first styles we produced was the Universal Racer Mk 1. Style-wise the jacket anticipates the Super Monza of the mid 1970’s, heavy padding at the shoulders and elbows, cross-over lancer front and two exterior pockets.
The two examples in our archive have a tough khaki 100% cotton lining and the wadding under the leather shoulder & elbow patches are made from several layers of blanketing, we have incorporated both details in this jacket. Available in all leather hides.
A good stout jacket which will give first class service. The suit is made of straight-forward design and made in strong leather, well padded at all vulnerable points. This suit is button fastening, as illustrated. In black only.

We take pride in making our jackets to the exacting specifications of the period in which they originated.
Great care and attention to detail has been taken to maintaining the heritage and integrity of our jackets and patterns, right down to the custom made reproduction zippers and even the linings. Because of this, our jackets do not necessarily live up to the present-day riding safety standards and are not intended to do so.
